Highlights of the 2018 Bloggers Conference organised by NiRA

Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) just concluded its first annual Bloggers Submit, a gathering of over 160 Bloggers and intending bloggers and over 10 power packed sections handled by Professional bloggers and Media Influencers.

The event which started with Registration at the venue extended till about 10 am as the Nigerian factor 🙂 plunged in.

A member of TFHost handled the first section, and he spoke about the importance of embracing Local hosting servers. He gave lots of reasons why a local server will be more beneficial to the internet webmasters than foreign hosting servers. Also sighting the cost, support, and the need for webmasters to support the Nigerian economy.

Right after that came the panel discussion which had Members from AccessBank, TFHost.ng, Naij.com (Now Legit.ng) Punch.ng and IXPN. They spoke on different topics including;

  • Getting financial back for your blogging business
  • The legal implications of copying contents from a blog
  • The importance of setting blogging goals and
  • Hiring the right relationship manager

The next section was one of the most anticipated section as Bayo Olupohunda – Editor in Chief – NAIJ was on the Topic; POWERFUL CONTENT STRATEGIES FOR BLOGGING.
He spoke about the secret of getting content as used by Naij.com. The best formats to use to make your content readable and exciting. He also talked about the Videography for blogging sighting that video is taking over the internet world and Data becomes faster and cheaper.

He went ahead to advice intending bloggers to strive for original content and try to create a backup video for the most post as people now prefer to watch than to read, especially for tutorial articles.

Next speaker was CFATech – Tech Trends (Channels TV) Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr.
He started by asking two people to tell Blogging story and followed by telling his own story and experiences when starting our CFATech.ng and how he achieved this place as Tech Trend on Channels TV. He ended his speech with a Gift to the 2 people that told their blogging stories and also the 5 others that asked him questions. The Gift; his printed Blogging book, titled. The Business of Blogging.

Following his section was the Assistant Affiliate relationship manager of Jumia Groups. He spoke on the need to monetize your blog not just with Google Adsense but with Affiliate products from Jumia Stores or any other e-commerce stores in Nigeria. He ended his speech with an offer to make anyone interested a Jumia Affiliate and to give him/her any support needed to grow.

Second to the last section was handled by Ben Bassey – Senior Editor – Pulse Nigeria. He spoke about SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING.
He gave multiple strategies on how to create viral content on different social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, etc. A point to note was his insight on the understanding that audience on each social media reacts differently to the same content, hence the need to understand your audience and create content that fits in.

The last session was from the much anticipated – Okemini Otum – Lead Strategist – Rabbington Media. He spoke about the TOOLS for BLOGGING. He gave a list of tools to make blogging enjoyable and faster. He was the most generous speaker of the day as he gave over 20 tools for Writing, SEO, Podcast, Video, Image and revealed the deep secrets of to blogging and newspaper companies in Nigeria. He ended his speech by giving an additional gift which was available on a link via his Instagram profile @okeminiotum.

The NiRA 2018 Bloggers Submit was a great one, well structured and organized. It ended with a group photoshoot section and Dinner.

The internet is now Anticipating NiRA 2019 Bloggers Submit which should take place in a bigger facility. Why not NiRA make it happen in EKO Hotels and Suites or a similar big space and Tag it NiRA 2019 Bloggers and Webmasters Submit, and of course Feature one of our Celebrity Bloggers and Webmasters; LindaIkeji, BellaNaija, Seun Osewa, and other big names. NiRA is the giant of the Web in Nigeria, we cannot underestimate what the can do. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the NiRA 2019 Bloggers and Webmasters Submits.
